The Mystery of the Red Barn

This graphic story is based on true events at Polstead in Suffolk (UK) in 1828.  It's about William Corder who married a farmer's daughter, Maria Marten, then murdered her for the dowry soon after in a nearby Red Barn.  Her mother saw the murder in a dream and so the murder was soon found out.  The crime and the eventual trial became a cause celèbre at the time.  The story soon became a popular Victorian melodrama, being performed in plays and written about in stories.  This pictorial version was published in a series of pocket sized comics under the general title of "Thriller Picture Library"; this one being called "The Mystery of the Red Barn" and was issued in May 1957.  Unfortunately my copy is very delicate now and it's missing the title page and page one.  Otherwise everything is here.
